Agreement establishing the Los Angeles Times Publishing Company, 1881, November 14.

Copy of the agreement between Nathan Cole Jr. and Thomas Gardiner establishing the Los Angeles Times Publishing Company, which was to print the Los Angeles Daily Times and the Los Angeles Weekly Times. Each partner in the agreement promises to produce equal funding for the enterprise and to "put in his undivided individual attention" and "utmost skill" into running the Company. Cole was to run the "mechanical and editorial departments," while Gardiner was responsible for the business and financial departments. Signed by Cole and Gardiner and witnessed by J.B. Painter.
